The International Teledemocracy Centre - ITC
Working closely with governments, parliaments and NGOs across Europe and worldwide, we have established an international reputation as a research centre that combines relevant software engineering applications with political and sociological analysis.
Our remit is to research and apply information and communication technologies to enhance and support the democratic decision-making processes.
We have a challenging research agenda focusing on three main areas of interest:
- How can technology support the public to participate in democratic decision-making? We are exploring the development of an analytical framework for electronic participation that will facilitate online deliberation and support the structured feedback from open responses.
- How can technology make information more accessible and understandable? We are concerned with managing public agency information and knowledge, focusing on the use of technology to enable knowledge sharing.
- What is the societal effect of technology on the democratic process? Our research is focusing on the development of an e-participation evaluation framework that considers the impact of e-democracy on democratic decision-making.
